I always loved riding as a kid especially when we used to sneak out at night to explore. Riding for me is my meditation and a way to think things through. I love long, six- to nine-hour rides. One of my best memories is when I sold everything I owned and rode my bike through Europe and slept outside every night. I love teaching kids how to ride. It’s like watching a bird fly for the first time. Success is being able to do 100-mile rides when you are in your 90’s. —Mike Sinynard: Founder and President, Specialized
Why do I ride bicycles? Being 50 years old and having been in the bicycle industry for 22 years I have ridden bikes for many reasons. As a child I rode my bike for transportation and general entertainment; can I make it over that ditch, just how deep is that mudhole, will my bike actually float in the lake? As cycling turned into my career, my riding evolved into competitive events and product testing. This is when my passion for a bike really blossomed and grew to what it is today.
Today I’m back to riding mostly for the same reasons I did as a child (however, now I’m avoiding jumping ditches), and I still have the good fortune of being part of the lucky few who get to ride something new and different all the time. Nowadays I enjoy peaceful trails and roads, exercise, and the challenge of keeping up with my kids. —Mark Lynskey, Lynskey Performance Design

I work in the bike industry because I love bikes, and everything they
stand for. Commuting saves us money and keeps us fit, training makes us
fast and keeps us young, and racing makes us look and feel as cool as
any pro. And besides, today’s bikes and components are so impressive
that being a gear weenie is a satisfying pastime all its own. See you
out there, —Mark Deterline: 2The Front Marketing
1. We have 427 miles of single track and 50 miles of great road loops so we would have to be crazy not to. 2. I always feel better after exercise; my mind, body, soul. 3. It is a family affair. Something we enjoy doing together. 4. Speed is my friend, though getting older I always try to go faster. 5. Sun Valley is beautiful, every time I ride I feel fortunate to live in a place with clean air and so much natural beauty. 6. We live in a competitive valley where you only gain respect through performance in local races and events. 7. You don’t live here for culture, you live here to ride. 8. To test new products; you cannot evaluate new products unless you ride them. 9. To dream that I have the legs of Stadler. 10. It is my life. —Scott Montgomery: Scott USA
