TOUR TECH: THE BIKES OF LE TOUR, PART TWO
July 12, 2009

Three bikes that stand out from the crowd..

Fabian Cancellara's S-Works is worthy in yellow.

Filippo Pozzato's Ridley stands apart from the team spec with a different frame, plus a color scheme that reflects his recently won Italian road title.

Like Pozzato, Carlos Sastre also gets away with riding a non-team spec Cervelo S3. Last year's Tour winner opts instead for a R3SL due to its lighter weight and additional rear end compliance.

Here's an unspoken, but cardinal rule in Europe - never, and I repeat never, roll a team bike through the paddock. If a rider is not on board, the bikes are always carried. I once rolled Lance's bike in a hotel parking lot in Belgium and the Disco wrenches just about had my head!

BTW, speaking of yellow... meanwhile in another galaxy far, far away...

American motocross star Ryan Dungey was showing solidarity with Lance on the 4th of July when he was racing at the AMA 250 National at Red Bud, Minnesota.

Former 7-Eleven/Motorola rider Dag-Otto Lauritzen is one of many former Pro road men who is now a TV commentator. Better looking or not, Bobke can eat the Norwegian alive!

Now here's a look at the last batch of team road bikes...be sure to check back soon for a complete review of team TT bikes...
