Francaise Des Jeux Registered Nation: France Bicycles: Lapierre Components: Shimano Key Riders: Sandy Casar, Philipe Gilbert, Remy Di Gregorio Title Sponsors: French National Lottery.
Francaise Des Jeux was formed in 1997 with American Chris Horner as a rider and was re-named FDJeux.com in 2003 and 2004, but then reverted back to Francaise des Jeux, supposedly to rid the team of bad luck. Francaise Des Jeux is managed by former pro Marc Madiot, a two-time winner of Paris-Roubaix. The team's greatest Tour de France success came in 2003 when Australian Bradley McGee won the prologue, while his fellow Aussie, sprinter Baden Cooke won a close battle for the Maillot Vert sprint competition. Francaise Des Jeux has had a tough last few years in terms of results as the team has focused on developing younger riders such as Sandy Casar, Phillipe Gilbert and Thomas Levkvist develop into winning professionals. In the 2007 Tour de France, French rider Sandy Casar won a dramatic Stage 18, while Swedish rider Levkvist and Bradley McGee have left Francaise Des Jeux in 2008. Team star the team has lost Australia's Bradley McGee and young Swedish talent Thomas Levkvist. With no rider capable of challenging for gc classification in 2008, the Tour de France focus will be stage wins led by Belgian talent Phillipe Gilbert.
