STAGE 2: BOBKE'S DAILY CALL IN: STAGE TWO
July 6, 2008

"I have to say that for the month of July the weather here at the finish is a bit cold. The clouds come up off the ocean and the weather seems to change every five minutes…it’s worse than Colorado! There’s no sun at all…no wonder so many white people come from here.

“Today, pandemonium broke loose on the streets of Brieuc. Overlooking the finish from the perch of the telecommunication towers of the Tour de France media compound it was a great sight to see for the “God of Thunder” Thor Hushovd. Dressed in the green and white kit of the Credit Agricole team he exploded from the peloton like a Viking battle axe.

"It was an incredibly chaotic finale caused by strong crosswinds, traffic islands and crazed cyclists. At 179 strong, each competing for enough room for a single rider, but that square inch was taken up by the front tire of Hushovd. Now the sole leader for his French team all the pressure for race wins rest on his broad shoulders."

Bobke’s Inside Line: "So far no one knows who is going to win this race. Not one expert can look at the field and say with any real assurance who will wear yellow in Paris. No matter how long you’ve been around you have no idea. It’s like Joe Strummer said, “The future is unwritten!”
