The Louis Garneau CFS-150 shoe is designed to be custom-molded to your feet. The CFS-150 shoe features Garneau's Custom Fit System with a thermo-moldable top and comes with separate sole inserts for hot and cold days. The carbon soles feature a patented multi-vent design that along with toe and heel cup vents, channel air through the shoe. To keep the CFS-150 secure on ones feet Louis Garneau uses a triple-strap closure system with quick-release buckles and Velcro straps. The CFS-150s are compatible with all major pedal systems and weigh 340-grams.
RBA SAYS: To test the thermo-mold system we first tested the shoes without going through the fitting process. We were very surprised at how good the shoes felt right out of the box. The soles were very stiff, providing good power transfer, while a deeps heel cup prevented any unwanted heel slip. The closure system worked well and did not cause any pressure points. One aspect of the shoes that truly stood out was the how cool they kept ones feet. Vents in the sole and toe area do a great job of channeling air in while the warm weather inserts are mesh and allow airflow across the bottom of the feet. The system works so well that Louis Garneau provides toe covers to cover up the forward vents for slightly cooler days. The only draw back is that if the weather changes suddenly, or you find yourself in the rain, you will end up with very cold and very wet feet.
While we were impressed with the shoes in their standard form we wanted to know how well the thermo-mold system worked. The process was simple. First heat the CFS-150s to 150-degrees, ratchet them snug around your feet, and once cooled the process is complete. We were surprised at how easy the process was and well it worked. After the molding process the CFS-150s felt more like a pair of socks than high end racing shoes. Simply put– the CFS-150 shoes are impressive.
