Thule has long been one of the premier rack producers in the world. They offer a wide range of products from roof racks, cargo boxes, and hitch mounted racks. For 2009 Thule has expanded their bicycle rack line and offers up some new products that are innovative and offer increased value.
Helium One of Thule’s new products for 2009 is the Helium 970 (2-bike) and 971 (3-bike) aluminum hitch rack. By using lightweight aluminum Thule was able to create a rack that is 40-precent lighter than a traditional hitch rack. The lighter weight makes the Helium easier to mount or dismount and reduces the weight of the vehicle for improved gas mileage. The two bike 970 costs $329, while the three bike runs $379.
Prologue The new 516 Prologue is Thule’s new value oriented roof rack carrier. The Prologue features a fork mounting clamp design with ratcheting rear wheel strap for extra security. The Prologue mounts to standard Thule cross bars and are an inexpensive way to add an extra bike carrier to your existing rack. Xadapt9 required when used on Thule aero bars. The Prologue comes with a lifetime warranty and retails for $89.95
In addition to the standard Prologue carriers, Thule has introduced the 515 Prologue Pack for cars with factory racks. The Prologue pack comes with two Prologue carriers and a Thule Ride-On adapter to fit factory racks. The Prologue Pack retails for $199.95.
Boxter Along with new bike racks, Thule has also launched a new top of the line cargo box. The 611 Boxter has European inspired design with a stronger, more convenient box structure to provide extra cargo capacity, protection and security. Like all Thule cargo boxes the Boxter is aerodynamically designed to minimize the effects on a vehicles gas mileage. The Boxter features a two-tone paint scheme and installs in 5-minutes. The Boxter retails for $799
