RACE REPORTS: JOHNSON REBOUNDS TO WIN SECOND ROUND OF USGP
October 26, 2008

Tim Johnson of the Cannondale/cyclocrossworld.com came back from a disappointing opening round of the US Grand Prix. The reigning US National Champion used yesterday’s sixth place finish as motivation and charged to victory in the second race of the series.

Trebon crashed on the second lap injuring his knee and requiring a bike change, putting him out of contention early. He would later pull out of the race.

Johnson attacked before the half point and held on for more than four laps to claim an impressive solo victory. Jamis rider Jesse Anthony rode well to finish second and in doing so took the series lead for yesterday’s race winner Ryan Trebon.

With one lap to go Johnson held more than 20-seconds on the chase group. Anthony made his move on the final lap and was able to get a gap on Jeremy Powers, who would finish the day in third

In the women’s race the Luna team continued to dominate. This time Georgia Gould took the win with teammate Katerina Nash taking second. Rachel Lloyd continued her string of top finishes in third place.
