Hutarovich beats Haedo to win Stage 3 in PolandKatowice, Poland - Belarusian Yauheni Hutarovich pipped Argentina's Lucas Sebastian Haedo to victory after a furious bunch sprint on the third stage of the Tour of Poland on Tuesday. Francais De Jeux-rider Hutarovich emerged from a cluster of back wheels on the home straight of the 122km stage to beat Saxo Bank's Haedo by a wheel rim.
Australian Allan Davis, riding for Astana, finished third to retain the race leader's yellow jersey. Davis now holds a three-second lead on German Andre Greipel, the winner of Monday's stage 2. Hutarovich is in fourth place overall at 4sec back, behind Italian Jacopo Guarnieri who sits in third.

Contador ends Astana career with crit win Castillon-la-Bataille, France - Three-time Tour de France winner Alberto Contador ended his season with a victory in the Castillon-la-Bataille criterium on Tuesday. Contador, who recently won the world's biggest race for the third time with a 39sec gap over Luxembourg's Andy Schleck, finished ahead of Frenchman Sylvain Chavanel of Team Quick Step and Chavanel's fellow Frenchman, Pierrick Fedrigo of Bbox. Both French riders won stages in this year's Tour de France.
Contador was racing for the final time for Kazakhstan outfit Astana. The 27-year-old Spaniard was confirmed as having signed a two-year deal with Saxo Bank-Sungard on Tuesday, the team run by former Tour winner Bjarne Riis.
"Now all I want to do is relax, while keeping up my form," said Contador.
North American Cyclocross Trophy Series – 2010 Season Preview Looking ahead to its 3rdseason, the North American Cyclocross Trophy announces some exciting additions for the 2010 cyclocross season. With a schedule that includes some of the largest metro markets in the U.S., the series is poised to ride the wave of popularity that 'cross is enjoying.
Created in 2008, the NACT series is comprised of “the classic cyclocross races” across North America, showcasing the best ‘cross courses and attracting internationally-ranked competitors. The overall series winnings combined with daily prizes make it the richest cyclocross series in North America.
Key among the changes for the 2010 season will be an equal prize list for Men and Women. “This has been a goal of the NACT series since year one, so this is very exciting to announce,” commented Myles Romanow, race director of the Whitmore’s Landscape Super Cross Cup and NACT founder.
Also new for 2010 is rider travel support for the top 3 riders each race weekend. In the words of Starcrossed race director Terry Buchanan, “We want to recognize the effort and expense top competitors face in racing the series, so this is a small step in that direction.” Joining forces with the NACT this season will be Bob’s Red Mill, who will provide whole grain goodness to racers and spectators each day as well as sponsorship of the Whole Grain Gauntlet course feature at each race. Bob’s Red Mill is a Portland-based whole grain food producer of mothan 300 products, including a full line of certified gluten free products and an extensive line of certified organic products.
“After we got hooked on the thrill of cyclocross a few years ago, it dawned on us what a perfect fit our hot Steel Cut Oats are for the sport,” says Matthew Cox, Marketing Director at Bob’s Red Mill. “Whole grains are the ideal fuel for the intensity of the sport and the fans and spectators alike [who] get cold and hungry. We’re absolutely thrilled to partner with the NACT series.”
Chris Grealish from The Victory Circle Graphix Boulder Cup quipped, ”We all left last week's NACT Promoters Conference Call with great enthusiasm for creating a unique and fun feature at our individual events for the Bob’s Red Mill Whole Grain Gauntlet. I just hope nobody throws down six inches of oatmeal for the riders to pass through.”
Other NACT sponsors include Castelli-US, who will be the NACT leaders jersey sponsor and BikeReg.com, which will provide series online registration services. NACT Series Director Brook Watts stated, “We’ve taken a major step forward in 2010 with the help of some great new series sponsors and the hard work of the race directors. We’ve got a few more developments that we’ll be announcing in the next few weeks.”
In 2009 the overall NACT series honors went to U.S. National Champion Tim Johnson of the Cannondale/Cyclocrossworld.com team, and Canadian Natasha Elliott of the Garneau Club Chaussure Ogilvy team.
