RACE REPORTS: TOUR DE SUISSE STAGE 2: HAUSSLER RETURNS

Heinrich Haussler of the Cervelo team won the second stage of the Tour de Sussie on Sunday after a 167 kilometers ride between Ascona and here. Haussler, who holds German and Australian citizenship, won the sprint for the line ahead of the Spaniard Pablo Urtasun (Euskaltel), the Italian Marco Marcato (Vacansoleil) and sprint specialist Oscar Freire (Rabobank), also from Spain. Swiss Fabian Cancellara of Team Saxo Bank, who won the opening time trial on Saturday, retains the leader's yellow jersey as the peloton prepares to head on Monday to Schwarzenburg in his home canton of Berne. Czech rider Roman Kreuziger (Liquigas-Doimo) remains second just one second back with Germany's Tony Martin (HTC-Columbia) in third.
After a good 2009, the 26-year-old Haussler, who won the 13th stage of the Tour de France, has struggled this season. Last month, he was charged with drink driving in Germany, where he is based, shortly after abandoning the Tour of California. "My season has been disrupted by several things. For me, this victory has been like a liberation," said Haussler.
Cancellara, the subject of accusations last month that he had a concealed mini-motor in his bike, finished in the leading pack to hold on to the yellow jersey. "I am happy because I have achieved my second goal," said Cancellara who was looking forward to Monday's third stage which takes the riders the 196.6km from Sierre to Schwarzenburg. "I know that course to Schwarzenburg well because that is where I do my training. It's going to be tough," he said.
The 38-year-old American Lance Armstrong (RadioShack), who is using this race as his final warm-up before attempting to win an eighth Tour de France, also finished in the pack.
