David Zabriskie (Garmin-Slipstream) took the overall lead in the Tour of Missouri after a dominating performance in the stage five time trial. Zabriskie covered the 30.5km course in a time of 36:30. After his ride today, he now holds a 30-second lead over Gustav Larsson (Saxo Bank) with future teammate Tom Zirbel (Bissell) a further 14-seconds back.
Zabriskie came to Missouri in support of last year's defending champion Christain Vande Velde, but has taken over as leader of the Garmin-Slipstream team after Vande Velde was forced out with a broken hand. When asked if the team could defend the race lead, Zabriskie said, “I think the team is very strong and we will be able to defend it.”
