RACE REPORTS: TOUR OF UTAH STAGE 5: SULZBERGER THE STAGE, MANCEBO THE OVERALL
Road Bike Action

Bernie Sulzberger (Fly V Australia) took the win in the fifth and final stage at the Tour of Utah. Sulzberger narrowly beat recently crowned US Professional Criterium champion John Murphy (OUCH p/b Maxxis), and up an coming rider Chris Barton (BMC).
An early break set featuring local hero David Zabriskie (Garmin-Slipstream), David Veilleux (Kelly Benefit Strategies), Brent Bookwalter (BMC), and Amateur national Criterium champion Justin England (California Giant Strawberry) set the tempo of the race. Zabriskie powered the the break to a maximum lead of 30-seconds but with Rock Racing and OUCH p/b Maxxis setting the pace in the peloton the race was destined to come down to a field sprint. The break was brought back halfway through the race with OUCH p/b Maxxis taking over at the front in an attempt set up Murphy. In the final sprint Sulzberger played off the OUCH p/b Maxxis lead out and came around Murphy for the win.
Francisco Mancebo (Rock Racing) retained the overall race lead, with Darren Lill (Team Type 1) in second and Jeff Louder (BMC) in third. Louder also secured the 1st Endurance Best Utah Rider Jersey. Veilleux’s efforts on the day vaulted him from fourth to first place to win the Larry H. Miller Sprinter Jersey. Alex Howes won both the Vitamin Water Best Young Riders Jersey and the Zions Bank King of the Mountains Jersey.
