Up and coming American rider Alex Howes (Felt-Holowesko) dropped the remnants of a day long breakaway to take the Tour of Utah's queen stage at the mountaintop finish at Snowbird Ski Resort. Howes attacked the break early on the climb with 12-kilometers remaining and quickly built a gap. Howes lead continued to increase his lead, finishing ahead of Burke Swindlehurst (Bissell) and a hard charging Francisco Mancebo (Rock Racing). Mancebo increased his overall lead with Darren Lill (Team Type 1) and Jeff Louder (BMC Racing Team) in second and third overall.
