Brent Bookwalter (BMC) stormed to victory in the prologue of the Tour of Utah in Salt Lake City. Bookwalter charged around the 4.5-kilometer course in a time of 6:12, one second quicker than Dave Zabriskie (Garmin-Slipstream / DZ Nuts) and two seconds faster than his BMC teammate Ian McKissick. The win is Bookwalters first victory in a time trial since breaking his leg in 2007. Altogether BMC placed four riders in the top ten including last year's winner Jeff Louder in fifth and Chris Barton in 6th.

Despite losing out on the victory, David Zabriskie will start tomorrow's first stage in the jersey of best Utah rider. Zabriskie who races for the Garmin-Slipstream is racing in Utah with no teammates under the banner of his DZ Nuts chamois cream. Despite a lack of Garmin teammates, Zabriskie will have support from Garmin's feeder team Felt-Holowesko Partners-Garmin U23 team.
The Tour of Utah continues tomorrow with a 137 kilometer stage from Ogden to Salt Lake City.
