On the final stage of the 55th edition of the Vuelta a Andalucia-Ruta Ciclista del Sol, Davide Rebellin (Diquigiovanni) took his second consecutive stage win, while Rabobank's Joost Posthuma took the overall win. With five tough climbs on the day, Jesus del Nero (Fuji-Servetto) attacked on the first ascent of the Alto de Cómpeta and was joined Alberto Benitez (Fuji-Servetto), Adrian Palomares (Contentpolis-Ampo) & Arnold Jeanneson (Caisse d’Epargne). This quartet stayed away until the final ascent of the day up the Puerto del Torcal with 14km to go. Evergreen Davide Rebellin (Diquigiovanni-Androni) was part of a 12 man group that absorbed the break and escaped the peloton, with Rebellin escaping in Antequera for the solo victory. Rabobank's young Dutchman Joost Posthuma made the final selection to hang on for the win in the 55th Vuelta a Andalucia-Ruta Ciclista del Sol.
