On the stage today in the Ruta Ciclista del Sol, a four man group consisting of Luis Angel Maté (Diquigiovanni), Dionisio Galparsoro (Contentpolis), Mikel Nieve (Euskaltel) and Clément Lhotellerie (Vacansoleil) got away after 20km and were eventually joined by Jufre (Fuji-Servetto) with 40km to go, but the sprinters team brought the break back with 7km to go. A tricky roundabout in the last kilometer broke the peloton in two and left a 3-second gap between the front riders and the rest of the bunch. Danilo Napolitano (Katusha) took the win ahead of Tom Veelers (Rabobank) and Belgian champion Jurgen Roelandts (Silence-Lotto). Joost Posthuma (Rabobank) took the Ruta Ciclista del Sol lead from Tondo (Andalucia).

Tommorrow's Stage 3 of the 55th Vuelta a Andalucia-Ruta Ciclista del Sol goes from Vegas del Genil to Córdoba over 164km.
