35 year old Alessandro Petacchi showed he can still bring it today, as he won his fifth straight GP Costa degli Etruschi, the Italian season opener. Petacchi beat fast neo-pro Jacopo Guarnieri (Liquigas) to bring LPR-Farnese Vini their first win of the year. “Well I might be 35, but
today, my winning sprint shows that I can bring it,” Petacchi told La
Gazzetta dello Sport after his victory. Barloworld's Robbie Hunter took
third, after his team had 22 team bikes stolen earlier this week.

Early on, it was Andrei Gryvko and Giovanni Visconti (ISD) out front,
who attacked after 70km and stayed clear of the peloton for almost 100
kilometres before being caught with 20km to go on the run-in along the
Tuscan coast.
