PAGE 8: ROAD BIKE ACTION TECH EXCLUSIVE: LANCE ARMSTRONG’S LIVESTRONG TREK MADONE 6.9 PRO RED
December 7, 2008

The Comeback Machine: Lance Armstrong’s Livestrong Trek Madone 6.9 Pro

Last June, just before the 19th Annual Trek 100 Ride for Hope charity event, Trek Bicycles presented Lance Armstrong with a new Trek Madone 6.9 Pro done up in a special Livestrong paint scheme. Little did anyone know that this bike would be the steed that the 7-time Tour de France champion would ride in his comeback to racing later in 2008.

Road Bike Action offers the first close-up look at Lance Armstrong’s Livestrong Trek Madone 6.9 Pro. The bike was originally equipped with Shimano Dura-Ace, but Armstrong switched to SRAM Red after he decided to race for Team Astana in 2009.

The SRAM guys were in Tenerife at the Astana training camp and made sure that Lance's bike was dialed-in for the camp. Check out the SRAM Red group on the Armstrong's bike as it features a SRAM / SRM Powermeter Pro wireless prototype including the new SRM PC VI system. The Red front derailleur has a 34.9mm clamp needed for the Trek Madone 6.9 Pro's large diameter seat tube.

The SRAM guys noted on their blog "The Road Diaries" www.theroaddiaries.com note that "it's interesting is that Lance is using the reach adjustment on the Red shifter by having it slightly closer to the bar than its usual position next to the brake lever".
