PAGE 8: PAGE 8 NEWSFLASH: LANCE'S MILAN-SAN REMO RACE BIKE
March 8, 2009

As part of Lance's plan to reach out to the global cancer community, both Livestrong and Nike have commissioned contemporary artists to take part in a global art exhibit called, "Stages." Originally conceived to feature 21-Stages (like the Tour de France) the idea has increased in size with artists coming forward to take part in spreading the message of hope and raising money for the fight against cancer. Shepard Fairey created a mural on the walls of the Montelban theater and KAWS has painted a one-off bike for Lance to race Milan-San Remo. We were able to get a look at it tonight.

"Employing a vintage style paint-scheme as his foundation in honor of the races 102-year legacy, KAWS then transformed the entire bike into one of his trademark characters with two giant spinning mouths for wheels (Bontrager 5.0's) and a sneering row of teeth snaking across the frame itself."

The Madone 6.9 also feautured Lance's "1274" number-the total days he was away from racing.

"Lance had KAWS hide the legend WNW 2009-Winners Not Whiners-somewhere on the bike, out of site but nonetheless visible to dedicated sleuths."

Stay tuned for a complete story on the Stages even where an entire casual Livestrong line of Nike products was also presented. One-hundred percent of all the profits from these products will be donated to Livestrong.
